This following is an extensive paper on stability calculation by Jo Ivens of the UK.

Also included are some fascinating photos of his collection of unusual aircraft configurations

Reader Alan Sinclair has offered an analysis program in the form of a Microsoft Excel file.  This program is an adaptation of one originally published in SoarTech #7.  It is used to make tentative center of gravity and stability calculations for different aircraft configurations.  Alan has offered to develop a brief description of the program.  Look for that to be posted here when it becomes available.   Click Here if you wish to access Alan’s file.  There are four different sheets in the file – each addressing a different aircraft configuration.  Note that Excel is required to make use of this program.

Curtis Suter has developed a number of very helpful Excel analysis tools for sailplanes and flying wings.

The most recent versions of his work are available on this website.  Click Here to access Curtis’ page.
