Technical publications of interest to designers of model aircraft, wind turbines, remote piloted vehicles, hydrofoils and others with interests in fluid-dynamics at low Reynolds Number or low speed flight.
New Product – Volume 3 of Summary of Low Speed Airfoil Data is now available on a searchable computer CD. This disk includes the complete text and all data from the original printed publication as detailed below. As a bonus, it also includes a more recent publication developed by Professor Michael S. Selig of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on the development and testing of Wind Turbine Airfoils, and a technical paper by Prof Selig on the general subject of low speed airfoil design. The price for this CD is $35 (postage included for US addresses). Orders from other countries – please include $5 additional for air-mail postage. This disk is available only from SoarTech at this time. Please see below for ordering information. Contact SoarTech by email if you wish to download this book via the internet – in lieu of ordering the CD.
SoarTech Aero publishes and distributes the results of wind tunnel aerodynamic research conducted by Professor Michael S. Selig of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and his students. A significant portion of the price received from all book and data sales is returned to UIUC to provide part of the continuing support for Professor Selig's ongoing test programs. For more information about Professor Selig’s ongoing work please see his website - UIUC Applied Aerodynamics Group
"SoarTech"began over twenty-five years ago as a series of technical papers devoted to radio controlled model soaring. These were published as the “TMSS Technical Journal” in the Tidewater Model Soaring Society newsletter. With encouragement and ideas from other sailplane enthusiasts, it later was published as the "SoarTech Journal.”
It has been an English language technical forum for Radio Control Aircraft; containing papers submitted by interested enthusiasts, and from other publications. It was intended to provide a vehicle for the publication of information and data, which was too lengthy or too technical for publication in the popular press. Although no new editions have been published in some time, Numbers 9 & 10 are still available for purchase.
NEW ---- SoarTech Journal --- On-Line
Beginning a new feature of this website, we are now developing an on-line edition of SoarTech. Interested writers are invited to submit papers for publication. These should generally fit the purpose of SoarTech as described above. Submit your expressions of interest to the editor – Herk Stokely at the above email address.
Also now available are several of the early SoarTech Journal issues, which are no longer in print. These can be accessed and downloaded at no cost.

DATA FILES FOR ALL FOUR WIND TUNNEL DATA BOOKS
All of the actual tabulated data and airfoil coordinates (but none of the narrative or illustrations) in Professor Selig’s books are available as ascii text files. There is no program for use of these files included with them. These are provided for those who wish to use the data for their own purposes. By formatting the data properly, their use can make manual re-entry of the data unnecessary. The price for the complete data from all four books is $27.00 postage included. The data is supplied in a compressed file on a single computer disk. The compressed file can also be sent as an email attachment. When delivered this way, the cost is $22.00.

SAILPLANE DESIGN PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS SOFTWARE
The late David Fraser's sailplane design performance program Is somewhat old now, but it still operates quite well on computers running Windows XP or Windows 98. The program is supplied on disk. This version is number 3.4 in the development series. The program Is compiled BASIC and runs on PC compatibles in a DOS window. It already contains all of the airfoil data from the Princeton and UIUC tests as well as several pre-entered aircraft parameter files. A complete Instruction manual accompanies the program disk.
The price is $35.00 for the USA and Canada, and $40.00 elsewhere. Postage included.
COMPUTER PROGRAMS IN SOARTECH #10
SoarTech 10 has several articles that explain the analysis of model sailplane design and flight by using BASIC language computer programs to do the calculations. For folks who'd like to make use of these programs, all of them are available on a single disk. If you'd like to receive them, Send $12 to cover the cost of the disk, packaging, postage, and wear and tear on the equipment and I'll send you a copy. ($14 for orders from outside the North American Continent.)
This isn't any kind of a regular software offer, so there is no manual or detailed instructions on the use of the programs other than the articles in SoarTech 10. It is just a time saver for folks who'd like to use the programs by sparing them the time it would take to type in the code that has already been provided in the text.
Please Note: All data that is supplied on disk can also be provided as an email attachment via the internet.
